Saint Expedite, the young Roman soldier holding the cross marked HODIE and the palm branch, his foot on the crow

A course on Saint Expedite

Saint Expedite The Saint Who Answers Now

Saint Expedite is the saint of urgent and just causes. This course teaches the whole of him, the history across three continents, the prayers and psalms in full, and the complete working method, from the altar to the paying of the debt.

Why this course exists

People kept asking me for this.

For years I have worked with Saint Expedite and written about him, and the same request came in again and again: teach the whole thing, in order, the way you actually practice it. Most of it was already done. What it needed was the finishing, and the push to sit down and finish it.

So here it is. Not a scattering of prayers and half explained rituals, but the full devotion, its history, its sources, and its method, set down plainly so you can work with him yourself and know what you are doing and why.

And the timing is not lost on me. More people are carrying urgent, just needs right now than at any point I can remember. This is the saint for exactly that.

Who he is

A saint scholars say never existed, and millions will not let go of

The story is nearly the same wherever it is told. A crate arrives where it was not expected, no saint's name on it, only a word stamped on the wood for how it was to travel: expedite. The people who opened it took the word for the name of the martyr inside, and they began to pray. The prayers were answered, and answered fast.

In 1899 the scholars whose whole work was verifying saints looked at him and published their doubt that he ever lived. The name reads like a shipping instruction. The paper trail barely exists. And none of it mattered. He is venerated on three continents, in the shrines of Réunion, the crowds of Brazil, and a statue on Rampart Street in New Orleans that has taken petitions for a hundred years.

His image is fixed and every part of it means something: a young Roman soldier, no helmet, no sword, a palm branch in one hand and a cross in the other reading HODIE, today, his foot pressing down a crow that cries CRAS, tomorrow. He kills tomorrow and chooses today. That is the whole of him, and it is why people in a hurry have always come to him first.

  • HODIEToday. The word on his cross, and the whole of his character.
  • Just & UrgentHis fullest title. The cause must be fair, and it must not be able to wait.
  • Answered FastThe one credential his devotees have ever cared about.

Some of what is inside

This goes further than you would expect

A course this size has room for the whole story, the strange parts included. A few of the things waiting in it:

  • His statues were beheaded. On the island of Réunion his images are attacked and decapitated, and there is a reason a saint of help became a saint people take their anger out on.
  • His picture is a countdown. Read his image the way it was meant to be read and it is a memento mori, a warning about time, hidden in plain sight on a holy card.
  • He keeps dangerous company. Where he sits among the folk saints of the Americas, and why he is almost, but not quite, in the same class as Santa Muerte.
  • People turn him upside down. The old practice of reversing his statue to make him work faster, where it came from, and why I will not do it.
  • The offering most people get wrong. There are two kinds, and confusing them is the single most common beginner mistake with him.
  • What happens when he goes silent. How to tell an unanswered petition from a failed one, and exactly how to close it out without harm.

What you walk away with

Enough to work with him yourself

Nineteen modules, nearly fifty lessons, laid out in order.

The prayers, complete

Every prayer in full, word for word, including the Brazilian prayer that names him saint of urgent and just causes and the quick prayer for when there is no time to lose.

Petitions you can copy

Real petitions written out to adapt to your own matter: money owed, a claims-court date, paperwork that will not move, a job offer that has stalled.

The psalms, paired to the work

Psalm 70 for urgency, 35 for court, 23 for money, in full, with the method for praying them over your petition. A pairing set down here as I could not find it gathered anywhere else.

The complete method

The altar, the two kinds of offerings and the mistake most beginners make between them, the timing, the terms, the payment, and one full petition run start to finish.

The judgment to go with it

What to do when he does not answer, how to close a petition properly, the causes that are not his to take, and why forcing another person is never one of them.
